Unexpected Server Maintenance 20 June 2009

20.06.2009

The Runes of Magic servers will be taken down at 10.30pm BST (GMT+1) / 23:30h CEST to investigate issues some of our users are experiencing during log-in.

We do not have a time when the servers are back up, so we would like to ask you for your patience if this might take a few minutes or more.

Our technicians are working as fast as they can to resolve this issue.

Thank you for your patience and please apologise the inconvenience this may cause you.

Update 9.20pm BST / 22:20h CEST

Attention: The maintenance will happen earlier now. The servers will be taken down at 9.45pm BST / 22:45h CEST!

Update 12.20am BST / 01:20h CEST

During their investigation, our technicians have identified a server-side software bug as the cause of the issue. They have informed Runewaker and they are working to fix the issue as soon as possible. We assume that a server-side fix might be available in the course of the night.

Therefore we would like to ask for your understanding should the servers be taken down at short notice.

Please note that we do not expect a client-patch at the moment.

We'll keep you update should new circumstances arise.

Update 21 June 2009, 12.45pm BST / 13:45h CEST

We were informed that last night's issue was caused by too many players trying to log-in at the same time. This caused the log-in queue to grow qicker, causing a delay in processing the player requests.

Additionally all cancelled log-in attempts (player-side) that weren't processed were still clogging the log-in queue, causing an even longer delay.

Now that the issue has been identified, we are working on a permanent solution.

We thank all our player for their patience.

Have fun in Taborea.
