Aotulia Volcano

Beneath a darkened sky, laden with volcanic ash and where the air is foul and sulphurous, lies the Aotulia Volcano, known also to adventurers as the “Claw of the Magical Dragon”. Here the land surface is criss-crossed with red hot lava flows and is barren of vegetation apart from some specially adapted plants. The structures built here by the Naga are completely different from their forest outposts both in terms of their design and strength.

It would seem that the Naga have built a city under the supervision of a creature of extreme high intellect. But the truth behind this supposition remains veiled, as even the most stealthy and capable scouts of the Order of Dark Glory are not able to gain entry past the Naga troops that guard the gate.

Aotulia Volcano – Claw of the Demon Dragon

Aotulia Volcano is one of the largest volcanoes on the continent of Candara. It is said that the volcano has been in a constant state of eruption for more than 150 years. This considerable activity indicates the might of the energy which is still contained within the volcano.

The Eye of Wisdom once considered sending people to the Aotulia volcano in order to set up a research station to study the volcano’s activity. However, no one was able to get through the defensive lines of the Naga and the Bodos. The present activities being carried out by Varanas and the Order of Dark Glory within the area are restricted to just a few probing missions.

Dead Tree Plains

Upon crossing the Great Barrier, adventurers will first see a barren plain populated only by dead trees and swathed in mist. It is no ordinary mist, but the very cause of the plain being completely barren. The plants and trees on the barren Dead Tree Plains have all been suffocated by the mist which is high in temperature, but laden with moisture.

The plain is scattered with trunks and branches which have yet to rot away and which of course give the place its name. But the hot mists are not the main threat to adventurers breaking through the Great Barrier, for the plain is not completely unpopulated, a terrible Demon lurks hidden in the murk ready to prey upon unwary adventurers.

Devil’s Mouth

There is a huge fissure which divides the whole area along the south side of the Aotulia Volcano in two. Erupting magma can be seen through the crack. This place is known as the Devil’s Mouth. Without the help of any magical power, it is impossible to pass through the Devil’s Mouth. The temperature is hot enough to burn to death any adventurers who might arrive here by mistake.

Even the mighty Naga have been unable to live under such conditions, therefore this is one of the few places, where they are not present. Yet this doesn’t mean that no sign of life can be found here. This perilous environment is home to the Flame Spirit, a huge flame giant who feeds on hot rocks, and has lava flowing through his veins.
